Services

Six ways to work together

Grouped around the three things that most often hold an owner-led business back: how people work together, where the business is headed, and how know-how gets passed on. Use one, or combine them.

People

TTI DISC assessments

Find out how each person on your team communicates and makes decisions, and what that means for how they work together.

  • Individual and team DISC reports
  • One-on-one and team debriefs
  • Hiring and role-fit insight

Leadership and business coaching

Private coaching for owners and the leaders they rely on, focused on the decisions and conversations in front of them right now.

Direction

Leadership team retreats and offsites

Get the leadership team out of the day-to-day to reset how you work together and agree on who owns what. Interviews beforehand, a written summary after.

Fractional CEO and COO

Senior leadership a few days a month, for businesses that need structure and follow-through without a full-time executive hire.

  • Roles, accountability, and handoffs
  • Meeting rhythms and scorecards
  • Plan implementation and succession
Learning

Training and curriculum development

Business and leadership training built from what your best people already know, designed so new hires and new leaders can use it on the job.

  • Program and course design
  • Instructional design and materials
  • Workshop and classroom delivery

Facilitation

A neutral, experienced facilitator for the meetings that matter: planning sessions, team resets, and hard conversations that need structure.

Approach

How an engagement runs

Every business is different, but the path is the same. Understand first, agree on what matters most, do the work, and judge it on results.

  1. Listen

Conversations with you and your key people, plus DISC or a business diagnostic where it helps, to find where the friction really is.

  2. Align

Bring the leadership team together, often at an offsite, to agree on priorities and who owns what. Findings come back in writing.

  3. Build

Put the plan to work with your team: clearer roles, better meetings, coaching, fractional leadership, or training built for your people.

  4. Prove it

Every engagement is judged on results set at the start. If it isn't showing up in how the business runs, it hasn't earned its keep.

About

Chris Breen, MBA

I spent 26 years in industrial automation at Spartan Controls in Edmonton and Calgary and at Custom Controls in New Zealand. That work taught me how operations run when they're working, and what it costs when people and processes don't line up.

In 2020 I started the business that became LocalWorks Business Builders to work directly with owners. Since then I've coached owners and leadership teams, facilitated leadership team retreats, stepped in as a fractional leader, and designed and delivered training for businesses and schools.

I live on an acreage near Spruce Grove. I work with clients in person across the Edmonton region and virtually across Canada and North America. You can also find me on LinkedIn.
